Bavarian Crono - The Instrument Watches
When the learnt watchmaker Elisabeth met the technician Eckehard Franz, the decision to combine thier talents and skills to produce a different line of watches was quickly made.
The long standing experience of Elisabeth Franz as skilled watchmaker, her attention to details, the self-set high standards regardsing her work and the pure joy over every finished watch along with the intuition of Eckehard Franz regarding design - clearly inspired by the long-lasting race activities of his father and his flying grandfather - were the base for Bavarian Crono's philosophy to produce innovative and at the same time reliable watches suited for everyday use.
Bavarian Crono's team stuck to it Bavarian root and is located in the small hamlet of Hirschwald ("deer's forest"). The company's product have found lovers all over the world.


Bavarian Crono uses both up to date technologies and traditional watch making techniques, with the advanced technology being especially important during the design and production of the precision component parts, and the traditional methods playing a large role during assembly and refinement. The high quality, reliability and beauty of the products is a result of the passion with which the technicians and designers of Bavarian Crono construct, test and decorate every single watch. At Bavarian Crono design is emotion and thus the impetus for further technical and aesthetical innovations, fostered by the intense relationship of Bavarian Crono team with sports cars of the Fifties or Sixties - a special and thrilling era for both competition cars and motor sports.
Bavarian Crono also follows the German tradition of lightweight constuction, and uses aluminum-magnesium or even titanium for the watch cases. As with many other manufacturers of fine watches, Bavarian Crono's automatic timepieces are built upon reliable Swiss-made ETA mechanical movements, which are modified and decorated by Bavarian Crono according to their unique design requirements, as well as the age old principles of watch making and traditional craftsmanship


To meet the requests of our customers Bavarian Crono now offers an attractive classic wrist watch besides the speedometer watches inspired by the Mercedes-Benz SL, Bugatti and the Juguar XK and E-Type Series of sports cars. The BC/42 is typical Bavarian Crono with facia full of character.
The watch case is available in 2 finishes: with fine and complex "peacock" grinding, features a surface that commemorates the typical style of the surface of the Bugatti engines or with an attractive quadruple grooving.
A special highlight is the packaging container - a handcrafted aluminium case with Bravarian Crono lettering.

60 year ago, in October 1948, Jaguar presented a new sports car at the London Motor Show in Earls Court to the thrilled public, a car that will change the world: the XK 120.
Under the long boonest rested the core of the thrilling new machine : a completely new six-cylinder with double overhead camshafts, a capacity of 3422cc and a power output of breathtaking 160hp. It was the first time in history that a DOHC engine was used in a production car. The denomination 120 referred to the top speed of the car : 120mph. In fact, it could even go quicker.
Never before had Jaguar's founder William Lyons erred in estimating the possible sales. In just a few weeks time the XK 120 had been designed. It should act as an eye catcher along the Mark V saloon that was presented in Earls Court as well. Lyons and is crew estimated a figure of roundabout 200 vehicles that can be sold.
Not so! Jaguar was overrun by orders, especially from the US. In 1954 the succeeding XK 140 came into production. Jaguar had sold more then twelve thousand XK 120 in three body versions, Open Tourer Sports (OTS), Drop Head Coupe (DHC) and Fixed Head Coupe (FHC).
The XK 120 not only flabbergasted sixty year ago - until today it is remained as the epitome of the British sports car.

In 1954, Mercedes-Benz presented the 300SL. A "car making icon", its design was ground breaking and with its upward opening 'gull-wing' doors and its mixture of grace dynamic, it has inspired car lovers with enthusiasm up to this very day. The "Instrument Edition 300SL Gullwing" of Bavarian Crono is dedicated as a declaration of love to this true legend.

Bugatti's Type 57 Atlantic respresent the pinnacle of the creation of Jean Bugatti. 1936 Ettore Bugatti, founder of the world famous car company, has assigned his son Jean with the complete production of the "pur ang" automobiles.
The vertical fins with its countless riverts, reaching from the roof to the back of the car, the curvaceous mudguards the forward reaching headlights - all these details summed up to an outstanding automobile with the fantastic stright right in its engine bay.
Jean Bugatti was the only child of Ettore Bugatti who had inherited the absolute sense for forms and style. The fact that only four Atlantic were built added to its myth.
Jean Bugatti met his death on August 11, 1939, when drive a Bugatti 57C that had just won the famous 24hours race at Le Mans and attempting to avoid a bicyclist who suddently appeared on the scene coming exiting a parish road. "Le pattron" Ettore Bugatti never recovered from this stroke o fate.
