NIVREL had an advertising slogan in the 1990’s going like this: ‚True beauties are most beautiful when they are naked!‘ Being the skelettonized variant of the ‘La Grande Manuelle’, the name of this model derives exactly from the slogan. It is called ‘La Belle‘. The movement is from the same product family as the one from the ‚La Grande Manuelle’. It’s a Unitas manual winding calibre 6497. For the ‚La Belle’, the movement is beautifully skelettonized and rhodinated. The true beauty of this watch actually derives from what is missing. Skelettonization and decoration of the single movement bridges allows a detailed view into the inside of the watch. Every single screw, every single mechanism is visible to the owner of the watch in every single detail!

This techniques was invented back in the days without electricity. Even fiction authors as the German Karl May wrote about it in appreciation: the repeater. It belongs to the most complicated watches of NIVREL. The additional capability is not visible but audible. A push-button activates the bell of the watch. Our 5-minute repeaters chime the past hours by one strike, and all the 5 minutes intervals by a double strike. The hands show the hours and minutes. Most of the models are available with an additional sweep second indication upon request.

Automatic movement based on calibre ETA 2892-A2, repeater module, fine finishing, engraved. The rotor is skelettonized by hand and carries a unique number. The repeater module chimes the past hours and the past 5-minute-steps with a double hammer and two springs.

Indication of hours and minutes. Sweep second upon request. The Repeater mechanism is launched by using the pusher at 6 o’clock.

Dial

Depending on the version, dial may be covered with white enamel lacquer and carry black-coloured Arabic numerals. Alternatively it may be silver-plated with a starburst guilloche. One version is partly skelettonized and features silver-coloured roman appliquès.
