Edition Pièce Unique

Flagship of the NIVREL product line-up is the Edition Pièce Unique. It contains those watches that were most important for company founder Gerd Hofer. By combining highend mechanics with the craftsmanship of a goldsmith (his real but former profession) he started to create watches that were timepieces and jewellery at once.

Throughout the last couple of years, six different models have emerged from this idea. By providing many different versions and customizing possibilities, every watchlover is able to find his or her individual watch. There are no barriers when realizing customer requests. The only restriction that is to mention is the time itself. As all Pièce Unique models are handmade, it takes a while to realize an individual request.

Nivrel Répétition Peinture Ref. N 950.001

For the first time in 2008, NIVREL presented a limited series with hand-painted dials of the recognized Parisian painter Thomas Diego Armonia. Every motive is completely unique as it is painted only once. Each of them represents one of Armonia’s original canvas paintings. This year, NIVREL presents more unique dials that have been finished by the artist just in time for the international fairs.

Moreover, NIVREL presents an additional Peinture model that is hand-painted by artists in Germany. For these versions the painting is realized either on two overlapping sapphire chrystals, or on mother of pearl. The crystal on the back presents the background of the painting while the crystal on the front carries the main motive (so far a tiger, a falcon and an Arabian horse have been realized). By using the double sapphire crystal, an astonishing 3D effect evolves that will fascinate the observer immediately.

Movement
Automatic movement based on calibre ETA 2892-A2, repeater module, fine finishing, engraved. The rotor is skelettonized by hand and carries a unique number. The repeater module chimes the past hours and the past 5-minute-steps with a double hammer and two springs.

Functions
Indication of hours and minutes. Repeater mechanism by launching the pusher at 6 o’clock.

Dial
Dial hand-painted on sapphire crystal or copper with different motives.

Black Breguet hands.

Nivrel Pièce Unique Répétition Annuelle Ref. N 950.001

In a very aesthetic and sensual manner, the model Annuelle embodies the idea behind the Edition Pièce Unique by combining the technical fascination of mechanical watches with perfect artistry of engravers and goldsmiths. All models of the Annuelle series show an individual piece of jewellery on top of the movement. Depending on the variant, these objects are covered with diamonds, hand-engraved, hand-skelettonized, partly rhodinized and made of 18 ct. rose gold or 18 ct. palladium / white gold.

Every year, NIVREL presents one new version of the model. The single models of the last years are known as the Dragon (2005), the Tiger (2006), the Black Dragon (2007) and the Black Dragon II (2008). In 2009, the series was expanded by a polo player with a moving polo stick.

Nivrel Répétition Squelette Ref. N 950.001 AAKK

The different models of the Répétition Squelette are all together a homage to one of the oldest craftmenships in Germany and Europe: The arts of enfgraving and engine turning (Guilloch).

Today, however, only a few specialists can be found who still master these old crafts. NIVREL makes theses old techniques come alive in the ’Répétition Squelette’ model techniques. In these watches, no less than three different kinds of skelettonizations and engravings can be found – next to the watchmaker’s craftmenship itself: The bridges and blanks are hand-engraved and hand-skelettonized. The prominent star wheel above the center of the movement (it covers the hour indication of the repeater mechanism) is also hand-engraved. The hour wheels and transmission wheels of the repeater are finished with a NIVREL specialty: a very unique guilloche called ‘Beam and Waves’.
